Operational experiences of the digital video cache and its role in the development of the television local area network

There have been very rapid developments in the operational use of digital television. The author presents some experiences of using digital storage in practice, and shows how these principles may be applied in the future. Where a station is generating its own productions, the input stages will be studios or outside broadcast facilities. Live events will pass through the system directly to an output cache, being recorded in a very large storage device along the way
