Abstract
Mode-matching technique is applied to the analysis of coupling between cylindrical TE011 resonators, which is the key parameter for the TE011- mode bandpass filter design. Combination of the mode matching technique and a novel equivalent circuit for coupling calculation provides a technique which rigorously takes into account finite iris thickness, angular offset of the two coupling irises and higher order mode interactions between resonators, while overcoming the typical limitations of the approximate models. Validity of the approach is verified by comparing the numerical results with HFSS. As an application of the analysis; a filter design example is demonstrated. Typical coupling curves, which are of practical importance in of TE011 - mode filter design are presented.
