Abstract :
The design of stabilizing pulse-frequency-modulation (PFM) controllers is addressed, in all generality, for the case of nonlinear single-input single-output analytic systems. Both static and dynamical PFM control strategies are developed, in full detail, on the basis of an elementary scalar system result. A dynamical PFM controller design is carried out for chemical process control as an illustrative example in which smoothed (i.e., implementable) inputs are obtained
