Abstract :
With more and more extensive application of electronic maps, the problem that how to evaluate map configuration quality of the electronic maps and how to amend it so that the maps are science and beautiful is very important. This paper analyzes the object and content of the map configuration, describes the process of the map configuration, elaborates the importance of map configuration evaluation, summaries and concludes the traditional map configuration standards. Through experiments and analysis, the author finds that the traditional map configuration standards are mostly qualitative indicators, which lack of quantitative criteria, mostly are evaluation, which lack of amendment, and can not guide configuration process of the electronic maps from the practical point of view. In response to these problems, combined with traditional map configuration theoretical results, the author proposed two quantitative evaluation factors: surface information rate based on information transmission and visual balance factor based on visual perception. The former analyzed the map configuration quality in the whole, obtained quantitative indicators, selected the best layout program, the latter analyzed the configuration results of each graphic element in detail, calculated the visual balance indicator, got analysis result, obtained specific amendments to the program. After testing, we found that the setting of these two evaluation factors is scientific and rational and the amendments meet the actual needs. The study provided a reference to the fast output and automatic producing of electronic maps.
