Abstract
A substrate integrated coaxial waveguide used as a patch antenna feed is presented. The waveguide is formed by means of conventional PCB multilayer fabrication techniques. Focus of this paper is on the analysis, optimisation and experimental characterisation of the integrated waveguide and its associated multilayer structure for mode-free operation up to 40 GHz. Measurement results of the integrated waveguide used as a transmission line and as a patch antenna feed at 30 GHz are presented.
