Abstract
In Hong Kong, liberal studies (LS) is becoming the corner stone of new secondary curriculum to cultivate creative and innovative talents. This paper first reviews existing research into educational technology in LS; then describes LIBERATE, a Quality Education Fund project exploring the acquisitive, experiential and transdisciplinary learning approaches with the goal of enhancing learnerspsila awareness of contemporary issues, broadening their knowledge base and strengthening their critical thinking skills; and concludes with future development plans. Developed based on the findings of its prototypes LIBERATE comprises the following eight synergistic interfaces: linkage, inspiration, broadening, experiment, role-play, awareness, teamwork and evaluation.
