Abstract
The dynamic development of the optical telecommunication system (OTS) observed in Poland in recent years has been possible due to application of various methods for installation of optical fibre cables on power supply lines. The market in the past has been dominated by optical ground wire (OPGW). The reason for this is that a majority of optical cable lines are installed at the time of line repairs, replacing old ground wires with OPGW. This technology has been used for 220 kV and 400 kV lines. The information given in this paper clarifies the circumstances of, and conditions for, constructing the first Polish telecommunication optical cable line on 15 kV lines using the optical phase conductor (OPCON)
