Abstract :
In this paper we design a high-sensitivity DVB-T (digital video broadcasting-terrestrial) system using dual receivers and silicon tuners. We have modified and utilized two receivers in our front end, each integrated with a tuner by using an OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) structure to demodulate the receiving signal. Dual receivers compensate each other and improve the sensitivity of the DVB-T system. By using a silicon tuner we reduce both the size of the PCB (printed circuit board) to 42 mm times 24 mm and the power consumption of the system because of the resulting improvement of the semiconductor process. Our design uses the NIM (network interface module) to send video streams via the host connector to the main processor to carry out the signal processing. In addition our design supports the video output to offer different options for a set-top box, a portable TV and a mobile TV.
