Abstract
Optimization of the current distribution is used to analyze how small antennas are affected by amplitude constraints on the near field. The optimal current distribution of an antenna that maximizes antenna gain over quality factor, in a certain direction and for a given polarization state when the near-field magnitudes are limited in a set of control points is formulated as a convex optimization problem. The results suggest that many fundamental antenna problems involving SAR can be analyzed using convex optimization.
