Abstract :
Reports on a widely tunable sampled-grating DBR laser with an integrated wavelength monitor. The laser has a 22 nm quasi-continuous tuning range, which enables it to reach 27 WDM channels spaced at 100 GHz with equal output power and greater than 40 dB of SMSR. The integrated monitor provides a differential feedback signal that enables the wavelength of the laser to be tracked over a 30 nm range with a resolution of 0.44 nm.
