Abstract :
A circular patch antenna loaded with a composite right/left-handed (CRLH) transmission line (TL) is designed. A dedicated radial TL circuit model is introduced to analyze the proposed structure because the conventional linear TL model is only suitable for a rectangular periodic structure. The new model is used to calculate the resonant frequencies and input impedance of the circular patch antenna. Its results agree well with the results obtained by full wave simulation.
