Abstract :
For sometime, English Language Teaching (ELT) has been undergoing a heated discussion as to the best way of teaching. ELT is a science which studies the processes and pattern of foreign language teaching, aiming at revealing the nature and laws of foreign language teaching. It is an inter-disciplinary science and it makes use of theories of different subjects. This paper is to introduce and compare two teaching ways: the Direct Method and the Communicative Approach in several different levels.
