Abstract
In this paper, we present error estimates of artificial boundary method for exterior biharmonic problem. The finite element approximation is formulated on a bounded domain by using a local exact artificial boundary condition which is expressed explicitly by a series form. In practical computation, the error estimates depend on the mesh size, the number of terms after truncating the infinite series, and the location of the artificial boundary. Two numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and the error estimates.
