Abstract
The model reference adaptive control of systems (e.g., thermal systems and nuclear reactor dynamics) described by parabolic partial differential equations is considered. It is assumed that the unknown parameters are spatially invariant but time-varying. The analysis is by means of averaging theory and it brings out clearly the unusual features of the spatial setting
