Abstract :
Though a significant number of engineers move into management roles in their careers, a majority of these transitions are viewed as unsuccessful. This paper, based on a survey of engineers in Australia, concludes that the responsibility for managing and coping with these transitions are primarily left to the individuals, with negligible support and resources provided by the organisations in Australia
