Abstract :
In this paper, a novel via-less quad-band planar microstrip monopole antenna has been designed by loading a conventional monopole with complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) and inter-digital capacitor (IDC). The sub-wavelength resonances of the CSRR and IDC are responsible for the multi-band characteristics achieved in this antenna. The proposed antenna can operate in UMTS/ WCDMA/ Bluetooth/ Wi-Fi frequencies with satisfactory peak-gain and impedance bandwidth. The radiation pattern of the proposed antenna is monopolar in all the radiating bands.
