Abstract
This study demonstrates the improvement in passive acoustic target tracking accuracy that can be achieved from the addition of transient signal time difference of arrival information to the set of target measurements. A scheme for automatic transient detection and TDOA estimation that takes advantage of prior target position information is proposed. The benefits of the process are highlighted, and two simulations demonstrating the viability of the method are provided
