Abstract
Previously, a TCM decoder has been using the Viterbi algorithm whose decoding process was complex. In order to reduce the complexity, the authors propose the `modified decoding algorithm using the path back method´, and the modified decoding algorithm extends the previous decoding algorithm to be able to be applied to the TCM decoder. Monte-Carlo simulation is used for analyzing the TCM performance and proving the efficiency of the proposed decoding algorithm
