Abstract
In this paper, we apply our interactive hierarchical response surface methodology to parameter optimization of photonic crystal nanocavities. Although high quality factor (Q) photonic crystal nanocavities have been proposed, it needs the higher value of Q in order to develop devices such as optical buffer memory. However, it has been difficult to optimize the structure, because the photonic nanocavity has been designed by using a time-consuming exhaustive exploration of the design parameter space. We found the optimized design parameters whose value of Q is about 1.37 times as high as that of the conventional parameters.
