SIME-the Portuguese energy market information system

Re-regulation of the energy market makes the introduction of a new generation of information systems mandatory. The implementation of these systems is still today a challenging endeavour which requires the use of the most advanced technology. In this paper, the major aspects of the design and implementation of SIME, the Portuguese energy market information system is addressed. The project involved the connection between an off-the-shelf telemetering system and a utility specified settlement system.
