Abstract :
A mixed H2/H control problem for discrete-time systems is approached from a covariance assignment viewpoint. A controller which simultaneously meets the following three criteria is proposed: pole placement in a specified disc in the stability region, assignment of an upper bound to the H 2 cost, and satisfaction of an H disturbance bound. Examples are given to illustrate the results. An application to the observer design problem is also described
