Abstract :
Summary form only as given. The Ascent of Man continues and can be described as a global search for higher achievement. Higher achievement requires the contribution of individual experts to collaborative problem solving. The organizational goal is for individuals who are working near their top potential, who are satisfied with their assignment and have found personal goals that are congruent with the goals of the organization. These goals are most often met by challenging assignments. For managers, congruence means holding on to their top performers in the competition between productivity and personal growth. For individuals, self-leadership is required because empowerment has shifted the responsibility for problem solving from managers to the problem solvers. The leadership exercised by managers facilitates the process required for synergistic achievement. Success is in the hands of those who also implement. This becomes a partnership, a search for congruence in which the productivity needs of the enterprise are met, and the personal growth of the individual is sustained
