Abstract
This paper discusses robust nonlinear control of static compensator (STATCOM) to improve power system voltage stability. Direct feedback linearization (DFL) technique is employed to transform the nonlinear STATCOM model into a linear one. A robust approach is used to eliminate the effect of parametric uncertainties. Simulation results show that the proposed controller achieves good voltage regulation in the presence of parameter uncertainties. The impact of the controller on voltage stability is studied on a three-machine system. It is shown that the feasibility region has been enlarged
