Abstract
This paper discusses a procedure for measuring group delay using two antennas, one of which has had its group delay calibrated. It considers the analysis methods to be used to derive the required results. It also examines the typical measurement errors involved such as multipath error, positioner accuracy error, near-field error and reflection coefficient effects. It defines error calculation methods to allow the magnitude of these unknowns to be derived and gives typical values for each of these effects. These methods allow the measurements to be made to an estimated uncertainty.
