Abstract
An analytic time-domain study is presented for the pulse shape distortion associated with the axial modal signal transfer in a closed waveguide consisting of homogeneous, isotropic, lossy material and an electrically perfectly conducting wall. The results provide the basis for the construction of a digital signal deconvolution algorithm that serves to reconstruct the pulse shapes of monostatic, or multistatic, radar returns arising from the irradiation with a pulsed field whose pulse shape is dedicated to extract, from a detected target´s return, information about its dimensions and shape.
