Abstract :
A low power, low phase noise wideband LC-voltage controlled oscillator (LC-VCO) with small Kvco fluctuation is introduced in this paper. The proposed scheme helps to reduce the Kvco variation within the operation frequency range. The VCO is incorporated with a varactor array and a capacitor array and is implemented in a SMIC 65nm standard CMOS process. Simulation results show that the proposed VCO achieves a wideband tuning range of 8.6~10.2GHz, and the fluctuation of Kvco is only 19.6%. The power consumption is less than 2.1mW at 1.2V supply voltage and the phase noise is about -108dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset.
