Abstract :
This paper proposes an adaptive pattern nulling technique for sub-arrayed antenna arrays. A customized version of the Genetic Algorithms has been employed to determine the status of a set of radio-frequency switches inserted in the feed network at the sub-array level, which allow implementing an adaptive thinning strategy to rapidly reconfigure the radiation pattern in order to maximize the signal-to-noise-plus-interference ratio. A set of numerical results is reported to assess the features and potentialities of the proposed methodology.
