Abstract
This paper reviews the practical experiences of managing a large scale pilot trial of a mains signalling remote meter reading and load management system over a two year period. The trial embracing some 1500 customers in the Wimbledon area of South London is jointly funded by participating UK RECs under the auspices of the Electricity Association. The system is based on the Thorn Security Mainsborne system
