Abstract :
A novel compact Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna (FRA) is presented for wireless network purposes. Using four p-i-n diodes employed across a moderately wide slot etched in a 32×35 mm2 ground plane, two measured independent (each one at one time) ultra-wide bandwidths (3.48-5.5 GHz and 5.18-7.35 GHz with S11<;-10 dB) are achieved for the first time with a measured 300 MHz bandwidth of overlap (%15 of ultra-wide bandwidths). Moreover, by appropriate switching six dualband modes with independent control of each band can be provided. Independent variation ranges are from 2.63 to 3 GHz for f1 and from 4.9 to 5.5 GHz for f2.
