Abstract :
Summary form only given as follows. As a management tool, the Stage-Gate Process provides a template for planning, organizing and controlling of projects, especially useful for technology-based projects with complex work and organizational interfaces. Based on field studies of best-in-class practices, the paper discusses techniques for setting up the Stage-Gate Process properly as an integrated part of a modern project management system. The important role of cross-functional linkages, involvement, commitment, communications and decision making are emphasized. Recommendations for applying the Stage-Gate Process in an engineering project environment are made
