Abstract :
This paper presents a design of high counting rate analog front-end circuit for radiation detector in 0.18μm CMOS process. The front-end circuit consists of charge sensitive amplifier (CSA), CR- (RC)n Semi-Gaussian (S-G) filter (called Shaper) which consists of one CR differentiator stage and n order RC integrator stages, and baseline restorer structure (BLR). A 3-rd order filter is selected in order to achieve high counting rate. A new BLR structure is proposed to solve the baseline drift problem caused by process mismatch. The designed front-end circuit achieves at least 1Mcps counting rate. Equivalent Noise Charge (ENC) of it is equal to 750e- for the detector capacitance Cdet=5pF.
