Information system for the management of the health services in Romania

The paper is focused on presenting an integrated information system, Internet accessible, aimed to provide complete, real-time recording and management of data collected in the process of financing, delivering and distribution of the healthcare services.The implementation of the system is the main objective of the R&D project @quot;The optimization of the financing, production and distribution of healthcare services for European citizen - OSISS@quot;, financed from public funds by the Romanian National Authority for Scientific Research. A special attention is paid to the aspects regarding electronic health recording at different levels: at the patient level by means of the health insurance card; at the healthcare service provider level data is recorded into local databases and finally at the highest level data is recorded into a central database at the premises of the National /County Health Insurance Funds management units. At this moment, the project is in progress.
