Abstract
Summary form only given. In today´s dynamic and sometimes virtual environments, project development organizations must continually struggle to remain cost-effective and efficient. One of the most significant and cost-driving phases of product development is product design. This paper briefly focuses on the need for more robust collaborative, virtual design environments and some of the capabilities that will be needed to improve and shorten the product design process. Environments dependent on computer-based visual display technologies to allow product development teams the capability to interact in a computer-based virtual design world
