Abstract
Phenomenology of a discharge involving solid insulation (epoxy) was investigated. This experiment offered the possibility to compare with the situation when only gaseous insulation (air, SF6) had been involved. Results showed clearly that situational discrimination, i.e. telling apart two discharge situations and/or distinguishing particular discharge features occurring at the interface between solid and gaseous insulation could be realized successfully using the present methodology.
