Abstract :
100 examples of successful R&D studies were investigated to obtain the relationship between R&D cost and performance. Evaluating them based on the two criteria of originality and strategic-ability, the author developed a 4-quadrants R&D portfolio. Survey by questionnaire to 392 leading Japanese companies induced new R&D management methodology for better R&D performance
