Abstract :
Summary form only given as follows. This paper focuses on the repair of a failed HPOF cable. The cable is oil filled, paper wrapped 1000 MCM, 700 Amp rated cable pressurized to a nominal 200 psi of noncirculating oil. The cable had been installed in 1972 and had been trouble free until August 2001, when a phase to ground fault occurred.
