  • Abstract
Process automation market is one of the most dynamical industrial sectors. Process monitoring solutions are based on advanced integrated engineering strategies. Taking into account complexity of such systems, developers try to find methods for porting their information systems toward different computing platforms, with affordable difficult tasks. Beside language differences, porting question may also involve data adjustment and adaptation to new system procedures for running a certain application. Aquifers and hyporheic zones investigations involve systematic measurements for physical, chemical and hydro biological variables. An information system for such areas explorations has the magnitude of a industrial process monitoring system. Authors efforts were focused toward different monitoring tools development procedures, based on usage some ´common language infrastructure´ (CLI) programming languages, like C# and Visual Basic .NET (by using .NET technology and Mono frame). Paper intends to achieve a comparative analysis of the applications developing (porting) procedures using C# and VB.NET, under Windows/GNOME, based on the following integrated development tools: SharpDevelop(Windows) and MonoDevelop (GNOME).
