Abstract
An applicator using a multi-microstrip antenna for hyperthermia has been developed. The applicator functions both as a heating applicator and as a coupled microstrip applicator for noninvasive temperature estimation inside the body. In the case of heating, the applicator can heat a deep region with surface cooling. In the case of temperature measurement, the applicator detects the change of the transmission coefficient of the electric field which is 0.78 dB/ degrees C. The depth of discontinuity (which is assumed to be the position of temperature change) is determined by a simple geometrical method.<>
