Abstract :
In this paper, we propose an efficient two-stage iterative method for removing random-valued impulse noise. In the first phase, we use the adaptive center-weighted median filter to identify pixels which are likely to be corrupted by noise. In the second phase, these noise candidates are restored by using an efficient median filter based method. These two phases are applied alternatively. Extensive computer simulation results indicate that the proposed method provides some improvement over many of the well-known method in random noise removal while preserving low computational complexity.
