Abstract :
In this paper we explore multiple ways of achieving utility-based fairness in wireless mesh networks of 802.11-based devices. We show the log-convexity of the rate-region and use this for achieving utility fair solutions for the family of iso-elastic of utility functions with elasticity lower than 1. We then use this to characterize the max-min fair solution. We then prove convexity of the non-achievable rate-region of a WLAN and use that to achieve utility fairness for utility functions that do not correspond to the special family above.
