Abstract
The synchronous approach is a new and promising way to design Real-Time systems. We have applied the synchronous programming style to the design of microcontrollers. The programming style is ESTEREL, an imperative synchronous language and the target processor is RTX2000 a high-performance real-time microcontroller. Here, we describe the compilation from ESTEREL down to FORTH(RTX programming language), and we analyze the eficiency of the implementation. Because our method is based on a high-level language (ESTEREL), the developement cycle time to system implementation is drastically reduced and safer.
