Abstract :
We report for the first time the use of two types of Er/sup 3+/ planar optical waveguide amplifiers in 77 channel CATV fiber links. Single and novel composite amplifiers in the headend and in cascade allow high quality broadcast transmission in terms of CNR, CTB and CSO over 52 km of standard allwave/sup TM/ fiber.
