Abstract :
A numerical method using a distributed network model and an evaluation scheme are proposed for solar cell grid optimization. It is noted that this method is superior to all the other analytical schemes because the optimization is done for various load conditions and is suitable for direct or concentrated illumination. A simplex method is used to obtain the parameters of a lumped equivalent circuit of a solar cell which is equivalent to this distributed network model. It is found that a low LPI (a large grid spacing) yields a greater diode power loss than the series resistance loss. The cell can tolerate a low value of shunt resistance (1000 Ω or higher), but not a short circuit
