Abstract
Summary form only given as follows. Software has been developed for the last two decades using the traditional structured analysis and design (SAD) approaches or some variations of this approach. Now in the 1990s, there is a radical shift in the software development approach; most notable is the emergence of object-orientation (OO). We discuss the various opportunities and challenges imposed by the OO technology along with the associated changes needed in the organization structure for its adoption as well as changes required in the management activities
