Abstract
The paper presents firstly a conceptual model which describes accurately the possible strategies of supervision and control accommodation according to the operating modes. Then, the design steps of a strategy are proposed. The automation engineering process is supported by a computer aided design based on a unified modeling language and a code generator. The manufacturing process can be decomposed into sub-systems and distributed control resources. The design method presented herein is available to represent all the plant dynamics linked to the continuous-time, discrete-time and discrete-event information. Consequently, the design method is applied on a machining center and its control re-structuring.
