Abstract :
We propose a 1500 nm-band thulium-doped fiber amplifier (GS-TDFA) that uses a novel high concentration doping technique, and achieved a gain of beyond 30 dB and a noise figure of around 5 dB in 1480-1510 nm wavelength region. We transmitted eight 10 Gb/s signals ranging from 1483 to 1505 nm, over 120 km long dispersion shifted fibers using proposed GS-TDFA.
