Abstract
Resonance scattering of a plane electromagnetic H wave by a magnetized plasma column is studied. The main attention is focused on the behavior of the Poynting vector field during the scattering. A comparison of the energy-flow structure in this case with that in the case of an isotropic dielectric column is made. Significant differences in the energy-flow structures in the two cases are revealed and discussed. A notable excess of the maximum absolute value of the Poynting vector at the boundary of a magnetized plasma column over that at the boundary of an isotropic dielectric scatterer of the same shape and size is found to occur.
