Abstract
Two methods for classification processes affected by uncertainty in the description phase and the class definition phase and for approximate reasoning in decision-making activities with a combination of certain and uncertain knowledge are described. Based on the two frameworks, an integrated set of automated fuzzy-logic-based tools for classification and decision-making activities has been developed and inserted in a classical logic programming environment. A homogeneous and flexible environment for the automatic handling of certain and uncertain knowledge in classification and decision problems is obtained
