Abstract
Summary form only as given. Technological innovation will play an important role in the future. The “S” curve describes an evolution of technology. During this period of dominance of R&D and the maturity of technology, critical times exist for strategic decisions. These strategic decisions include a variety of criteria and depend also on the capability to develop a market. The authors discuss the relationship between the technological “S” and market development as a tool for an optimization of product and market evolution as well as strategic policy. They present a case study as an example of that topic and discuss the suitable policy for small high-tech companies
