Abstract
Knowing how well a manufacturing process will fit a new location prior to its transfer is a necessary, but not sufficient, condition for predicting transfer problems. This paper argues that firms must also consider how easy a manufacturing process is to transfer. A pre-transfer tool, tested here in multiple case studies, uses the dimensions of location fit and ease of transfer to provide a means of measuring the fitness for transfer of a firm´s manufacturing processes
